1967 Jaguar S Type 3.8 Manual with Overdrive

The Jaguar Mark 2 was introduced in 1959 and sold throughout the 1960’s. It had a live rear axle and was powered Jaguar’s ubiquitous XK 6 cylinder engines.
In 1961 Jaguar launched two new models. The full size Jaguar Mark 10 saloon which used Jaguar’s new Independent rear suspension, and a Triple SU Carburettor version of the 3.8 litre XK engine, Then also the other new car for 1961was the E Type sports car which shared the same 3.8 engine as the Mark 10 but used a scaled down version of the independent rear suspension.

The S-Type was a major redevelopment of the Mark 2. It used a mid-scale version of the Mark X independent rear suspension to replace the Mark 2's live rear axle and featured longer rear bodywork, among other styling and interior changes. The S-Type was available with either 3.4 or 3.8-litre XK engines but only in twin carburettor form because the triple carburettor setup would not fit into what was essentially still the Mark 2 engine bay.

This particular car left Jaguars Brown’s Lane plant in 1967. And  shows only 5 keepers. It appears that its third keeper had the car in Spain for around 30 years so its remarkably rust free in comparison to many other S Types that either reverted back to a form of Metal Oxide or found their way to a dusty death in an episode of The Sweeney being hotly pursued by Jack Regan and George Carter!
Its finished in a Copper metallic with Black interior, and its in delightful condition for its age.  The history file shows significant expenditure to bring it up to the superb driving car it is today.

That recent expenditure includes a Major Mechanical overhaul in 2014 costing almost £4000, and then New front and rear springs, rear shock absorbers , rear wheel bearings only a few months ago. It really does drive very well.
