1973 Mercedes Benz 280E Automatic

The Mercedes Benz /8’s also known as the 114 Models, were a completely new model for the manufacturer after the war. They carried almost no parts at all over from previous models. There was a wide selection of petrol and diesel models, along with two wheelbases as well.

This particular model is the top of the range 280E fitted with Mercedes excellent 2.8 litre twin cam engine with fuel injection for the first time on a mainstream model. Finished unusually today in the most amazing period shade of Mercedes Benz Yellow, it comes fitted with Dark Green MB Tex seats which look like new. Anyone who knows anything about Mercedes Benz will know that the Tex seating while looking like real leather, is almost impossible to wear out, and is still available today as an option on Mercedes Benz new cars today.

I remember this car being brand new in 1973. My father ran a 220 model at this time, and to see this stunning bright yellow 280E arrive certainly set my mind racing. The car was simply stunning.

Its still stunning to this day. It’s had one owner from new, and is showing a mere 64,000 miles. The original purchase invoice comes with the car showing the original spec which it still carries today.

Extras were:
Inertia Reel Seatbelts & Anti Freeze                £ 20.00
Tinted Glass & Heated Rear Screen                £159.11
Central Locking                                   £ 54.62
Central Armrest                                   £ 30.00
Electrically operated Tilt & Slide Roof      £187.00

Furthermore everything still works. The car has recently been re=commisioned and serviced. It's been fitted with new brake caliper, discs and pads. Its just been fitted with a brand new Stainless Steel Exhaust too so she's all ready to go. Mercedes Benz made around 13800 of this model. Today, "How Many Left" list only around a dozen or so of this model from 1973.
