MG Midget Mark11 1965

MG Midgets have been one of the British Classic Car scene’s mainstays for longer than I care to remember. They have been a wonderful little car. Practical, great fun, usable and in their day quite a quick little thing from point to point. The compact size and sharp handling meant that they could keep up with the big boys on country routes quite easily. Today they are still as popular as ever, and really good ones are very collectable.

This little Midget is just one of those. First registered in 1965 this Series 11 is finished in the very unusual colour of Dove Grey (Have you ever seen another in this gorgeous colour?) with a red interior a Grey hood and a red full Tonneau cover. Furthermore the Heritage Certificate which come with the car states that this was the exact spec it had when it left the factory, 49 years ago. Lots of Midgets have been tampered with or modified in some way or other, but this little car looks feels and drives like it did, the day it left the factory.

A Magazine article in the Spring 2001 edition of Practical Classics comes with the car, which is featured undergoing a total nut and bolt rebuild at the time. It appears that this little beauty has since covered around 4500 miles. And is in simply stunning condition, not only inside and out, but also underneath too. It’s latest keeper, who’s owned the car since 2007, has also kept up with the correct maintenance, and has replaced pretty much all the suspension components, brake components, and steering rack, plus a myriad of other items to bring this fabulous little car up to the condition its in today.
